If in the foul Year of our Lord two thousand and twenty-six you imagine a midterm wave is an opportunity to buckle down and hammer out some sensible bipartisan legislation, find another hobby and cede the field to someone who understands what time it is.

You don’t get to accomplish anything good in the next two years. You need to be clear-eyed about that up front. It’s not on the table, and harboring the delusion that it is will only do harm. All you get to do until 2028 is block evil. That needs to be your singular goal.
