Just pushed a new iPhanpy version for app review. It’d been a while! My Apple developer certificate expires next month and I’m a bit tight on money so I’ll probably go a few months without updating it again 😬

Finally migrating domains and web hosting off of Cloudflare to @beasts. I'm also moving the build process for my site off GitHub Actions, and I see I should update the version of Tailwind CSS I'm using, etc, etc, so there is definitely some yak shaving involved. I suspect it'll take a while to get all of this done and squared away. Still, I'm impressed so far. Things are straightforward but I see the more advanced options for DNS, etc, are there if I need them....

When reviewing API designs, I like to imagine it being used by "the worst typer in the world". I imagine a dev who is *just awful* at typing and makes every mistake they possibly could. How painful are those typos and how quickly are they discovered? #CodeReview

Screw alignment, I want an #AI agent to hack my mom's computer and set up a backdoor just so I can forcibly add her to the video chat. No more "Just press this button" or "No, they don't redesign the UI every week". I just press a button and she's there.

I'm watching #StarTrek #StrangeNewWorlds and I swear it feels like every other episode goes like: La'An: "The Gorn are firing on us, what are our orders?" Pike: "Well, we can't fire on them, that would be considered an act of war!" La'An: "Sir, they already blew up a Starfeet ship." Pike: "..." La'An: "And are holding our people captive!" Pike: "Quite t...

Did the AI hallucinate? Or did it accurately summarize random opinions on the internet and are those opinions just wrong?

RE: https://mastodon.social/@h4ckernews/117473736639824572 I suspect we'll continue seeing ports of basically all #compiler / static analysis tools as that problem space tends to be really well suited for #AI development. Comprehensive golden test cases and performance gates ensure you don't regress. Beyond that, the code is purely fungible.

I swear every other benchmark I see about stuff I'm knowledgeable in is severely flawed to the point the author is trying to argue and it really makes me question how meaningful all the other benchmarks I see are.

How are we fighting back today? Mark Zuckerberg tried to throttle the No Kings march Instagram. Democrats want answers. https://www.ms.now/news/instagram-shut-down-a-no-kings-account-now-democrats-want-answers-from-mark-zuckerberg Looks like a Judge ruled that Greg Abbot has to allow his private messages with Elon Musk to be reviewed to look for any (more) questionable activities. https://cbsaustin.com/news/local/judge-orders-abbott-to-let-hinojosa-review-unredacted-elon-musk-communications...

PSA: if you’re using an old phone for something like a radio in the garage, you might wanna check on it. I had an old iPhone in an old radio that played from 30-pin iPhones. It was plugged in, charging all the time. Today it wouldn’t work when I hit play. I climbed up on the shelf, pulled the iPhone out. That thing had swelled up so much the screen broke off and the case was cracked. Shit was about to blow. Now I have a potential bomb to dispose of.

Seeing how they aren’t Israeli citizens, I’m not sure why that’s relevant. Canadians aren’t allowed to vote in U.S. elections either, whether the U.S. was killing civilians there or not.

The Paradox of Tolerance You can't keep sheep and wolves in the same barn. "The paradox of tolerance states that if a society's practice of tolerance is inclusive of the intolerant, intolerance will ultimately dominate, eliminating the tolerant and the practice of tolerance with them. Karl Popper describes the paradox as arising from the fact that, in order to maintain a tolerant society, the society must retain the right to be intolerant of intolerance." https://en.wikipedi...
