  • Ola Bonatti and @praxeology are here in Frankfurt presenting the ideas around permacomputing, at @nodeforum NODE+CODE! Thanks so much for the referral @320x200!

  • @freebliss @aaaaa just thinking if it would be possible to contribute in case I use it for a project and it would require changes for instance :)

  • I built a small (still buggy) tool to create visuals for audio. The tool renders a video reacting to the audio in the browser – purely client side. https://publishing.systems/alt-video/

  • Still remember joking about how Interesting January has been tech wise as if it was last week Somehow it got worse lol

  • Well, we’ve had a good run. 5 years of #labratwat chaos, and Rogue #Roguedog has *finally* discovered the outdoor food waste bin. She is now pining at the door to go back outside. Not a chance, you bin dipping menace!

  • The play store may no longer allow RSS Feed Readers, but F-Droid has several!

  • I think... we may be able to do a lot of good if we could automatically caption images using their imbedded metadata

  • An ironic thing: My dad died of cancer a couple years ago. Now it is Father's Day, and of course I've seen the ads for it. But thanks to Trump, most of the stuff I see is about No Kings Day instead. That, or laughing at his small parade that absolutely was not managed well (unless you count "probably sabotaged well" as well). So um... Thanks, I guess?

  • Riley, I deeply appreciate your messages, your attempts to send me aid. Please know I am doing well - my food and water are stable. After your earlier message, I had feared the worst, but am glad to hear otherwise. Please, be careful. Your advice often comes far later than it could be of use, so instead I ask of you this - Speak not to me of how to survive, but instead of how the greater galaxy fairs. Are you eating well? How's the market? Are you safe?

  • I have been working on my Neocities site and booooy my style is NOOOOOOOT good. https://i-be-null.neocities.org/

  • One of the issues is the Ace Flag itself. It has both black and white, which screws with the contrast of ANY text color. RE: https://goblin.band/notes/a95wwiu4r2hjml72

  • Spotify => Paid => Requires DRM in browser or an installed program with unknown behavior that you aren't really allowed to look into. AccuRadio => Free => Does not care that DRM is disabled in my browser.

  • I'm reading Hans Anderson's Fairy Tales (available on Project Gutenburg - https://www.gutenberg.org/ebooks/66688) and "She Understood The Speech Of the Birds - The Marsh King's Daughter" really takes a slide in quality when White Christ is introduced. It makes me wonder if there's a Different Version out there that has an ending that better fits the rest of the story.

  • I've been running a Tripplite rack cooler in the home server room for a few years. While it keeps the room cool, it also doesn't manage humidity super well, and only has two modes - Fan, and compressor on. So it cycles quite a bit throughout the day, It also places quite a bit of load on the UPS. With the AC on it, the UPS goes from being able to support the entire system load for an hour or so, to under 10 minutes. The high inrush also isn't good for the batteries....

  • One of my colleagues made the comment that he'd never been someplace as smokey as the lobby of Encore in Vegas when we were walking through it. He's in his early 30s. This reminded me of when I was growing up in the 80s and 90s, that there were smoking/nonsmoking sections that both smelled like smoke in most restaurants. Smoking was still really common up until the mid 90s. Seeing those big brown cigarette dispensers beside arcade machines in restaurants was normal. Smoking...

  • Looks like I'll be going to New Orleans for Thanksgiving week with @hypoidbear then taking a road trip with @VictorKoopa around the holidays. Need to figure out some things to do to get out of town for a bit between now and then, though..
