Lately every time I step outside a flock of pigeons comes to check me out, so decided to offer them some snacks today. This is the first time I feed them like this, typically they either eat from the sparrow-feeder or just watch us from the roof, surprised they jumped on me at once :woodpigeon:

83 birds in the net yesterday. 74 received a ring, 9 were retraps that had a ring from before. Total of 10 species, mostly redpolls, but a flock of redwings, wheatears, and greenfinches passed through the nets as well. Species ringed: willow warbler, sedge warbler, redpoll, twite, greenfinch, bluethroat, wheathear, redwing, rock pipit, meadow pipit.

Had two new species in the nets yesterday, a common snipe and a magpie :blobaww: The day resulted in: 77 species ringed, 7 retraps, 11 species. Most abundant species still the redpoll. Species ringed: common snipe, magpie, redpoll, willow warbler, sedge warbler, redwing, house sparrow, greenfinch, wheatear, bluethroat, meadow pipit.

@fullywoolly the metal ring size is based on the species and how thick their leg gets as an adult. We also only place them the leg is large enough and gull legs don't really get much thicker as they grow/age (especially when the bird is this size already). So nothing will happen with the leg, ring fits now and will continue to fit 😀
