This is cool. But new train sitting on the siding for 4 hours to wait for a freight train when the entire journey is supposed to take 4 hours is the actual problem no one in government wants to solve. VIA Rail remains a national embarrassment because of successive Liberal and Conservative policy. Now they’ll just be a national embarrassment with new rolling stock. Oh and people can barely afford to take it across the country. It is mostly an embarrassing tourist fraud with spectacular views. This was to experience modern-day VIA Rail. Last time I took them was in 2016.

And to Ottawa, it was like 2000!

C'était pour faire l'expérience de VIA Rail contemporain. La dernière fois que je les ai pris, c'était en 2016.

Looking at going to Ottawa using VIA Rail…

The schedules are horrible. Like, departures at 6:20, 9:00, 11:54. And to return: 14:15, 16:05 and 17:55.

I was look at something like 10-10:30 to go, and 19:30-20:00 to return 😢

Je regarder pour aller à Ottawa en utilisant VIA Rail...

Les horaires sont horribles. Comme, départs à 6h20, 9h00, 11h54. Et pour revenir : 14h15, 16h05 et 17h55.

Je regardais quelque chose comme 10-10h30 pour aller, et 19h30-20h00 pour revenir 😢

This is the first time I’ve seen Via Rail issue a travel advisory due to “high temperatures.” Has anyone else seen a travel advisory like this from Via, in say, the past year? “Hello, We’re reaching out about you upcoming trip with VIA Rail Canada. Please note that delays are possible for trains travelling on July 13, 2026 due to high temperatures.” #viarail #train
