Si tratta del maggiore Magdi Ibrahim Abdelal Sharif - ritenuto dalla procura l'uomo che avrebbe materialmente ucciso il ricercatore 27enne di origine friulana e per il quale era stato chiesto l'ergastolo -, e dei colonnelli Athar Kamel Mohamed Ibrahim e Uhsam Helmi. The first section of Rome’s Court of Assizes (president Paola Roja) has therefore sentenced three Egyptian intelligence officers to 10 years imprisonment, after an eight-hour hearing, for the sole crime of kidnapping. This is the highest-ranking Magdi Ibrahim Abdelal Sharif – considered by prosecutors to be the man who would have materially killed the 27-year-old researcher from Friuli and for whom life imprisonment was requested – and colonels Athar Kamel Mohamed Ibrahim and Uhsam Helmi.
