@sister_ratched@toot.community we went to LBR* in the 70s, family hol, dad driving mum & we three kids, in our vw microbus. shocking wet weather, dirt/clay road there reduced to a super slippery slide. bus' tyres continually clogging with the super sticky yet slippery mud, so we kept sliding off the road. repeated outings of dad & kids to push push push while mum did the steering n pedals thing... rinse n repeat repeat repeat. oddly i have almost no recollections of LR itself, but the drive there is indelibly imprinted *ever after, dad never says "lightning ridge", but always "lightning bloody ridge" 😆 #straya

prep for shower: remove towel from ensuite towel rack, shake vigorously, inspect floor walls & underarms for wee beasties, hang towel over shower door frame shower: do the doings post-shower [but still within the cubicle]: remove towel from shower door frame, shake vigorously, inspect floor walls & underarms for wee beasties, commence towelling... ...espy sudden appearance on shower floor tiles of just-landed big black, prolly-whitetail, spider... ...instantly engage adrenalin glands & deploy olympic-grade hop step jump & yelp... ...ponder just how fooken vigorous must the damn towel-shaking be, ffs?... ...mock once again all those doubters who pompously declared that no dropbear could ever possess the athleticism to compete in the olympic h-s-j-&-y event for... #straya 🤪
