We need a shim os that can boot, then continue in a VM with synthetic io. You could have an immortal workstation. Under the hood, the shim os is handling zfs, lvm, virtio, etc. the guest sees a fat volume and ample resources.
You could buy a refurb computer and the shim would boot, and prompt to netinstall guest.
Like the whole idea is off the shelf parts, like a bootable gnome boxes.
Later you can add features to the shim hypervisor like mesh networking, ai GPU cluster, storal pooling, sky is the limit.
In the end you are making a very smart hypervisor host as firmware
