I wonder whether the poll results would have been different if I'd noted that the tune for Mary, Mary, Quite Contrary is very close to the tune for Polly Wolly Doodle, at least as far as the point when one comes to the end of the alphabet. I only learned about Polly Wolly Doodle after I had posted the poll. @ketmorco@fosstodon.org, were you thinking of Polly Wolly Doodle? It would be interesting if two sides of the Atlantic had this, each slightly adjusted for its own variant of the tune.
