Update from #RisingTide, regarding the arrests last year at "The People's Blockade of the World's Largest Coal Port". They write:
"NSW police have officially dropped ALL charges against 125 people arrested at the 2024 People's Blockade! 🎉🌊
Thats 250 charges DROPPED! Including 125 counts of an anti-protest charge that included a maximum of 2 years in prison and $22K.
Why? There were simply too many of us out on the water that the police could not keep track of everyone and provide sufficient evidence.
This is proof that acts of mass civil disobedience work. When thousands of us come together to disrupt the world's largest coal port, we are un-policeable. You know what this means 😉
Let's pop the champagne 🥂🍾 and then get down to organising bigger, bolder actions than ever before ✊
Huge thanks to Climate Defenders Australia and the rest of our legal team for such a fantastic outcome 👏🙏 "

So conflicted to see you folks bridging onto mastodon. On the one hand ist appreciated to have any news here..
.. on the other, mastodon is the more community driven, grassroots projects and community run space.. and we shouldn’t be second class citizens that can’t interact with your account.
Please make a dedicate mastodon account.. there are desktop tools that aid legit duel posting especially when sending Twitter like messages out to all the Twitter like platforms.

Holy smoke, climate denying trolls are making fake pictures showing a huge mess left behind by the Rising Tide blockade on Newcastle’s Horseshoe Beach. Here’s the original pic vs the fake, which has apparently spread widely on social media. #auspol #AI #fakenews #risingtide
