Palestinian goalkeeper Saleem Al-Ashqar, 32, was shot and killed by Israeli forces northeast of Khan Younis, according to the Palestinian Football Association.
He had been married for just five months and was expecting his first child.
His death brings the number of Palestinian sports community members killed since October 2023 to 1,009, including 567 footballers, according to WAFA.
