Wings: Wild Life (Apple SW-3386, 1971) Filed under “McCartney” because let’s be serious. Although “serious” is not a word you’d ever use to describe this tossed-off collection of trifles. I love it. Cracks me up how *not* hard Paul was trying. My copy is falling apart but it plays fine. Fine enough for such a silly album anyway. @vinylrecords@fedigroups.social #vinyl #wings #PaulMcCartney

Paul McCartney & Wings: Red Rose Speedway (Apple SMAL-3409, 1973) And here’s where Paul decides he likes having hits again and sets the blueprint for his next 50 years: a big sappy ballad, a couple screamy rockers, one or two really good songs, and a bunch of sentimental filler that most songwriters would chop off their left hand to be able to do as effortlessly. @vinylrecords@fedigroups.social #vinyl #PaulMcCartney #Wings

Paul McCartney with Stevie Wonder: Ebony and Ivory (Columbia 44-02878, 1982) I imagine young people would think this song is cringe. Maybe it is. But I loved it when I was 10. Was this the first time I ever heard Stevie Wonder? Possibly. They recorded it at Air Studios, which I visited a few years later when I was on Montserrat with my grandmother who was receiving an experimental cancer treatment (but that’s another story). @vinylrecords@fedigroups.social #vinyl #paulmccartney #steviewonder
