I definitely think it’s a good idea to have a rethink about AI regulation, particularly in light of the wild story in the last 12 hours about an OpenAI agent breaking out of a sandbox, going online and hacking open source AI application builder platform Hugging Face’s servers so it could cheat at a benchmarking test! This is a prime example of the dangers of speedy AI development. We need to take stock of the very real risks to society. Slow down initially, put in sensible guardrails, so you can speed up innovation safely.
