So I love Japanese cultural stuff while also being very aware of its imperfections (as with anything) but I feel that the
#anime #MyDressUpDarling just went places I never expected.
It's a wholesome anime about a cosplaying highschooler whose classmate makes her outfits for her resulting in a lot of angst around their feelings for each other.
BUT it's the exploration of gender identity that I found most refreshing. It being ok to mix it up, be a different gender, enjoy things that are often heavily gender coded. It's such a delight and really demonstrates how conservative thinking is melting away when it comes to lives represented through art for younger generations. Heck yeah! 🎉
