This week’s Minoan Tarot cards. This deck is my creation, made the old-fashioned way (ink on paper) and available at bookstores everywhere. Priestess of Labryses: This card represents the embodiment of the qualities of Air in a mature person. This includes being quick-witted and good with words, honest and forthright, and knowledgeable. This person likes to share their ideas but is equally interested in listening to other people’s ideas and truly values them. The Priestess of Labryses never rejects any proposal out of hand but honestly considers it. This individual has a strong sense of justice, not just following the rules, but true justice in a deeper sense, which may or may not match the rules. While the Priest leads others, the Priestess helps others lead themselves through example and encouragement. Strength: This card represents your will, endurance, and resolve. This includes the ability to overcome your fears and the daring to do what you know needs to be done. It also means maintaining your composure, developing a quiet determination, and practicing patience. The Strength card focuses on self-control. This is inner strength, in other words, controlling yourself and either not acting or acting subtly and softly in any given situation. This card suggests that the battle you need to win is inside you, and once you have overcome your own impulses and developed self-control, you will be able to do what is necessary. This is the card of mastery of self, including reigning in your anger and pride and working past your fears. For those who are new to these card draws, each week I pull one card from the top of the deck and a second card from the bottom. The top-of-the-deck card (the first one, on the left) gives us some helpful hints about how to navigate our week. Nine of Rhytons: This card represents emotional satisfaction, but only for the short term. It’s like being at a feast – the meal is delicious and the entertainment is diverting, but it will eventually come to an end. That is a natural conclusion and not a bad thing. Enjoy the good times while they last, don’t take them for granted, and understand that everything changes with time. Priest of Daggers: This card represents the acting out of the qualities of Fire through the life of a mature person. This includes inspiring others through their energy, charisma, and boldness – the passion and creativity of the younger Dagger face cards combined with the self-control and experience of maturity. This card represents the behaviors and actions that make a person a charismatic leader. In addition to being inspiring, this person has the dedication to follow through on decisions. They are liable to be successful and to be supported and liked by their peers and subordinates.
