For some reason my brain has surfaced that according to the #hhgttg the rudest, most repulsive concept in the galaxy is Belgium except on one planet where they don’t know what it means. #DouglasAdams
this is one of the multitudes of brilliant lines from DA that have made me cackle for decades. just now though, somehow, i read it with fresh eyes, analytically not comically. it made me wonder...
do, can, egomaniacs ever actually say anything like that which intimates any degree of self-awareness they are in fact bonkers not normal?
the trigger for this re-evaluation was the latest overnight idiocy from the orange oaf wrt his world cup red card intervention, with his wince-makingi'm good at this stuffbtw, my use of "normal" above was in an extremely narrow context of egomaniac or not

It seems to fit the bureaucratic stereotype that Adams was lampooning that there would not be an actual leopard, just the sign. Mandatory per regulations, of course. Just in case foolhardy visitors decided to amble in whilst not even thinking about #leopards at all.

Sorry to say but the older I get the more I think that Douglas got the passengers for the Golgafrincham Ark Fleet, Ship B wrong....
Cos while it might be nice to get rid of the useless part of the population, at least they didn't hurt the rest of us. Far better to get rid of the super rich and the super ambitious and the dictators!
