I would call myself an "infrastructure and exploration" nerd. I like history, folklore, fiction, botany, birds, wildlife, exploration, cartography, railways, icebreakers and other ships, folk music, poetry, hockey, and chess. Specific history interests: Canadian history, Atlantic World history (c. 1700–1830), Arctic and exploration history, Diaspora social and cultural history, 20th century diplomatic history, French and Russian cultural history.
