The network effect is crucial to every social platform, and what differentiates them is how they are able to match IRL connections with online ones, and we can do this, but it needs to be done carefully and in a way that preserves privacy and user autonomy across platforms and services.
No single software should have the ability to wall off access, or we become the thing we worked so hard to replace.
