Shared infrastructure is how the #Fediverse can grow without recreating enshittified platform silos. We’re excited to share that Bonfire is working with Mastodon on two critical areas of Fediverse infrastructure: remote media storage and automated content detection. Built around open Fediverse Auxiliary Service Provider (FASP) specifications, this work will help platforms connect to shared services instead of each having to build and operate the same capabilities alone. Our aim is to make these capabilities open, interoperable, and available for any federated server to adopt. A big thank you to @Mastodon@mastodon.social team for involving us in this work. We’re looking forward to building together and sharing what we learn along the way. Read the full post: bonfirenetworks.org/posts/bu... #ActivityPub #FASP

@apps@toot.fedilab.app Holos discover continues to impress me. I hope you all find a way to turn this into a #FASP service so admins at servers like #indiewebSocial can integrate it into our server's search....

@rimu@piefed.social Are there upcoming #FASP offerings that might help with media storage? I think @Mastodon@mastodon.social may be building something like that that seems to apply to any fediverse software. Does #piefed have #FASP support on its roadmap? "We will implement a new Fediverse Auxiliary Service Provider (FASP) that will allow sharing storage and media processing between servers. The timeline for implementation is by the end of 2026." https://blog.joinmastodon.org/2026/04/sovereign-tech-agency-funding/

RE: https://fediway.com/@fediway/116398744890443910 Really interested in seeing this #FASP as it forms. (Among others)

@haverholm@radikal.social @PaulaToThePeople@climatejustice.social Really appreciate the flag. Fediway is a discovery feed, not a bridge, we are building on #FASP by mastodon and existing bridges. We don't push content between protocols. We only process publicly addressed content and check indexable/discoverable flags. If that line read as dismissive of consent, that's worth hearing, wasn't the intent. DMs open if you want to talk specifics. :)
