Come riportato da Repubblica, il Pentagono ha appena reso pubblica una nuova tranche composta da 71 dossier, di cui 64 ampiamente oscurati per tutelare l’identità dei testimoni coinvolti. L’obiettivo politico dell’operazione era stato anticipato lo scorso giugno dal segretario alla Difesa Pete Hegseth: “Questi dossier, rimasti nascosti dietro il segreto delle classificazioni, alimentano da tempo le speculazioni — ed è ora che il popolo americano possa vederli con i propri occhi”.
Il materiale declassificato copre uno spettro temporale e tematico vastissimo: si va dalle trascrizioni audio di un briefing del 1952 tenuto da Edward Ruppelt (l’ufficiale della US Air Force che coniò il termine Ufo) fino alle recenti registrazioni video di misteriose sfere luminose nei cieli del Medio Oriente.

The White House has decided to accelerate the “total transparency” operation regarding Unidentified Aerial Phenomena (UAPs, an acronym that has replaced the term UFO). As reported by Repubblica, the Pentagon has just released a new tranche consisting of 71 dossiers, of which 64 were widely redacted to protect the identity of the witnesses involved. The political objective of the operation had been anticipated last June by Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth: “These dossiers, hidden behind the secrecy of classifications, have long fueled speculation – and it’s now time that the American people can see them with their own eyes.”
The declassified material covers a vast temporal and thematic spectrum: it ranges from audio transcripts of a 1952 briefing held by Edward Ruppelt (the US Air Force officer who coined the term UFO) to recent video recordings of mysterious luminous spheres in the skies of the Middle East.
