I drove over to Palouse Falls in eastern Washington yesterday, about a 4-hour trip. It was my first time visiting the falls, and it really is an amazing state park.
There is a fence on the canyon rim near the main viewing area, but you can also walk along parts of the canyon rim where there are only warning signs. When I walked over there, I made sure to stay about 10 feet back from the edge to get my shots. It is a beautiful place, but not worth taking risks.
I loved seeing the waterfall drop into the deep canyon, with mist rising from the pool below. The green along the basalt walls really stood out against all that rugged rock. It felt very powerful, dramatic, and well worth the drive.
