#AlternateFridayMusic September 25 2026 the cue is "Bleak" Artist: Chris de Burgh Album: Eastern Wind (1980) Song: Eastern Wind https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZCJRLcI5uzU Chris de Burgh was on the verge of his breakthrough here--his next album would have "Don't Pay The Ferryman" and a few years after that he'd hit "The Lady In Red". And this album was already easing a little into lighter pop numbers. But the closing number is a quiet-to-intense number about the dread of one's quiet farming existence being ravaged by the "Eastern wind" of war and upheaval. For some reason it was the first one that came to mind for "bleak", because de Burgh's voice captures the feeling of hopelessness and despair. #music #ChrisDeBurgh
