Another post I read just now brought up this painful memory.
My dad, all through my childhood, kept repeating that I wouldn't live to age 20 because I didn't have common sense. He must've thought it a fine joke, but that is brutal to hear from your own blood parent! And now that I know I'm an AuDHDer, yes of course I didn't have the common sense that he did. But he didn't understand me at all.
Some people apparently need lessons on how to be a good parent. This is just one of many reasons why I have cut my parents out of my life.
