@keyofG@mstdn.social "In an open letter signed by officials with six pro-private health care think tanks—which also appeared as a digital ad in The Hill Times—the groups wrote, “we applaud your government for recognizing the importance of provincial flexibility and for taking a more open approach to provincial health care innovation and reform.” All of the signatories are closely connected to the Atlas Network, a well-documented, American dark money coalition made up of billionaire ideologues pursuing a libertarian agenda while evading transparency.. SecondStreet.org, a pro-free market and “health care choice” think tank based in Regina, was an Atlas Network “Smart Bet” in 2022 and appears to have facilitated the letter. Some argue Canada should abandon equalization altogether, but the better path is to renew the entire system of transfers. My latest for @MLInstitute offers a simple, more transparent, more growth-oriented, and more sustainable option: https://macdonaldlaurier.ca/rebalancing-canada-a-two-pillar-reform-of-equalization-and-federal-transfers/ #cdnpoli #cdnecon

@miki_lou@mastodon.social The consevative party of Canada readily relies upon Canada Strong and Free, leadership conventions, annual conservative networking conferences. Strong and Free is yet another American supported advocacy network operating in Canada. Is the Conservative Parties Indigenous rhetoric from Frontier Centre. Is the conservative party of Canada just another American supported advocacy agency? When Andrew Scheer ran for PM, he conveniently forgot he held dual American/Canadian citizenship .. #atlasnetwork https://web.archive.org/web/20201022153417/https://www.atlasnetwork.org/partners/global-directory/canada https://www.theguardian.com/commentisfree/2024/jan/06/rishi-sunak-javier-milei-donald-trump-atlas-network https://www.thespec.com/politics/federal-elections/scheer-defends-silence-on-american-citizenship-during-halifax-stop-i-was-never-asked/article_1b7d6a50-3bf9-51ed-8acc-1e77b9cb691d.html

BC’s marketing campaign has successfully recruited hundreds of US healthcare workers at a time when our healthcare system is in crisis. Maybe it’s not just about the price of coffee? 🤔 “B.C. hires more than 400 U.S. health-care workers in 1-year recruitment blitz” #BCPoli #BCHealthcare https://www.cbc.ca/news/canada/british-columbia/how-many-u-s-health-care-workers-are-in-b-c-9.7129903

@dyckron@mstdn.ca Also proves how effective Atlas Network is, a US based advocacy org is having. It gets a national public broadcaster to amplify its misinformation. You would hope a national public broadcaster would be aware of misinformation efforts and guard against then. But MacDonald Laurier Institute has successfully portrayed itself as a legitimate voice in Canada. Australia's public broadcaster (ABC) is beginning to do this work #AtlasNetwork https://www.abc.net.au/listen/programs/radionational-drive/atlas-network-voice-referendum-no-campaign/102930444 https://web.archive.org/web/20200812092125/https://www.atlasnetwork.org/partners/global-directory/macdonald-laurier-institute-for-public-policy
