Dr Slump is just a bizarre game, not helped by the fact that I have very little knowledge of the manga it is based on.
From touching slightly sentient poops, to selling sponges so some aliens can buy a new space ship, to shrinking my homeroom teacher and sticking her in my pocket so she can hear my inventor Brother-Dad confess his love for her...
It's quirky in a great way... But does it make a great game?
It's tough. The "action" stages all feel quite lacklustre, but... They are also such a small part of the overall package.
I'll have to sit on this one a bit... I still have about 3 chapters to finish.
In the meanwhile. One of my favourite moments was going on an errand to get cigarettes for my Inventor Brother-Dad, and Arale's straight to the point request just had me chuckling.

So, I am currently ignoring my "to-play" N64 list in favour of playing something a little more wacky.
Who doesn't love wacky?
That game is Dr Slump.
A game based off a Manga by the legendary Akira Toriyama.
I can't comment too much right now, as I am still very firmly in the tutorial phase of Dr Slump, but there is a weird amount of charm to this game.
Even if I learnt how to punch by watching a father physically assault their teenage son...
I think no matter how you dice it, that's just weird and uncomfortable...
So far, there is a lot to like in this game and I am looking forward to when I actually move into the actual meat and potatoes of this one.
