@Mwritter@universeodon.com I just love how for decades #turing test was the gold standard of machine intelligence... ....but when #llm blew past the goalposts so fast they spun like in a cartoon... #Aiantagonists dug them up, and place them on the moon.

@XauriEL@mastodon.nz Its not quite like that (the latter part). What many #aiantagonists do not appreciate is, our economic capitalist system is not designed to appropriately calculate prospective future gains. If (and its a big if, arguably) #ai promises are realised even in 25% (and it certainly tracks this way), what will it mean? Expert, superhuman intelligence on tap, forever. That is something you quite literally can not put a price on. Hence the "wasted" billions investing into Ai

Wow, this is the part that many #AiAntagonists do not understand. Not because they are stupid, but because #Ai is not a tech they use. The models get CONSTANT upgrades. Every week or two, there is a new build... Ive just discovered that #Claude Code can spawn agents to do work. Specifically I often bounce between models Sonnet/Opus. One for coding, one of depth of reasoning. Ive designed a thesis and usually I just step down into sonnet and get that to #Vibecode it for for me... ... but today, the model did that on its own; "now spawn a sonnet subagent to implement rev 2 Spawning it now. The spec is self-contained, so the prompt's job is guardrails and definition-of-done rather than restating the design."

@gleick@mas.to It's not that "AI does inferior work" It's "Getting AI to do quality work is a high level skill" People, especially #Aiantagonists believe the hype that AI is a magical fairy dust (albeit ground from fairies). The reality is, you need to beat AI with a stick to get quality output. Its; X. Train the humans to use Ai
