Boomers, the most arrogant, self-aggrandizing cohort to ever exist, genuinely believe (for the most part) that they are not only the greatest generation there ever was, but truly believe theirs is the greatest that will ever be. They genuinely believe that subsequent generations do not deserve to be successful, mainly because they are insanely jealous that we all have found creative & alternative ways to be successful in spite of them. That it is completely lost on them that the decisions & actions they have made over the decades delivered the very conditions that forced us to pursue "non-traditional and or unconventional", yet successful career paths & lifestyles is most ironic....and sad. To them, grinding away in a cubicle as an anonymous office peon for 40 years in a 'white collar' job, ascending the ladder with nothing but a firm handshake is the gold standard of 'career success'. One of the [many] reasons my father resents me with an extreme passion is that I left Boeing- a once great company that has maybe 20 years of life left in it- to go into an independent aero engineering business venture....despite the fact that I have become far more prosperous, successful and, more importantly, happier as a result of it. He could not care less that the achievements I have made since leaving thay god-forsaken company could never have happened had I stayed at Boeing- a place where I was, in all reality, nothing more than an anonymous white-collared peon manning a cubicle in a windowless office- boomer's vision of 'establishment & prosperity'. Apparently to the boomer, we're supposed to suffer & be completely miserable until it's time to 'retire', and only then can we be 'happy'. Too bad boomers, as pissed off as they are at us for becoming successful in spite of them, won't understand the most fucked up thing of all- that all of us, the successive generations that have come after them, only get to retire when our hearts literally stop.

@CliffSecord@nicecrew.digital @flux@nicecrew.digital I could understand the mindset better if it came from my grandparents, people who lived through the Great Depression. That kind of experience would naturally instill a desire for safety, stability. The Boomer mindset seems more like a desire for conformity, which they would deny as they see themselves as the rebellious generation

@Charles_in_Charge@poa.st @CliffSecord@nicecrew.digital @flux@nicecrew.digital Their rebellion was long hair, lots of drugs, never missing a meal and having plenty of money. Not one of them ever experienced any true danger and thet exhibited cowardice as a result of that. Sure a few were in Viet Nam but a tiny amount.
