It will give local leaders powers and funding to expand contactless “tap-and-go” travel across #buses, #trains and #trams, building on systems in cities such as #London and #Nottingham. The plan includes over 40 commitments, alongside measures to keep travel affordable, such as fare caps and fuel duty freezes. A new partnership with Google will provide real-time bus tracking via Google Maps, particularly benefiting rural areas. Other initiatives include a £6 million Peak District pilot to better link buses and trains, and expansion of a national parking platform to simplify payments.
