President Trump continues to repeat two factually inaccurate assertions about and action in . At least this NY Times article sets it out clearly; but it warrants restating here because continues to parrot the same line.

1) NATO is a *defensive alliance only*. It is not used to mop up the military actions of individual members states.

2) Article 5 has only ever been invoked once in NATO's history -- and it was for the USA (09/11)!
