@mattblaze@federate.social I'd say that there are in fact a wide variety of narrative structures that are effective in different ways and that almost any could be used on occasion for presenting scientific work, depending on context, format, and audience. On the other hand, a linearly written account with no introduction is probably not one of them, and is a fair approximation to things that I've seen (more often in submission than in print). I have used some odd structures ... for, as they say, reasons.
