People who have never had to rent as an adult will never understand the privileges of homeownership. And it's a fucking problem. Let's discuss.

Everything below represents a stressor that renters have that homeowners just don't.

I have a 15 day grace period to pay the mortgage. That means less stress getting the payment in on time. I cannot stress enough how relieving that is.

I can just fix stuff myself if I want to. If I hate my faucet, I can just replace it with one that's high enough - too many never renters do not understand how shitty kitchen faucets are in most apartments. They are chosen for price and not utility. This is an often unrecognized stressor. It's harder to watch dishes when your faucet is too low.

I can buy stuff in bulk because I have a place to store shit. Buying bulk is cheaper. I don't have to think about how many rolls of toilet paper I have left nearly as often.

I have enough space to work on loud or messy projects. You can't build a workshop in an apartment.

I never have to worry about someone buying my home and forcing me to find alternative lodging. The relief from this is palpable - this is such a huge and often invisible stressor. It's an elephant sized stressor. Moving is expensive.

I can have multiple pets, and specifically more than two. My pets are not restricted by weight or breed.
