Tonight’s movie was Crime 101 (2026).

Crime 101 weaves a few character stories together masterfully. It is a slick crime film that had me captivated throughout the whole movie.

This movie is a full homage to Michael Mann — if felt like the third film of a trilogy in Michael Mann’s LA-based cinematic universe, the first two being Heat and Collateral. LA plays lesser of a character in Crime 101, but LA is nevertheless a star in this film.

The editing is exceptional in this movie.

Mark Ruffalo plays the detective from Collateral as if he had survived. It was wonderful. Chris Helmsworth is fantastic in the film. But, the star of this movie is Halle Berry.

I really enjoyed this movie. It is well paced, well acted and well written with a satisfying ending.

Rated 9 out of 10.
