Just realised that I don't have to laboriously back up my 1.8tb OS drive nvme before I try switching my desktop to Linux, like I did with my laptop, because I have several drives.
In fact, I have a 1.8tb magnetic drive that's nearly empty and a 500gb nvme that mostly has Steam games; I should just be able to move the installs from that nvme to the magnetic drive, and then install Linux on that smaller nvme, reformatting it as necessary. That would even let me preserve the Windows install if I need it, where it's sitting on the larger nvme. Then I just change the boot settings to use the small nvme instead of the big one!
Nice. I was trying to figure out how to squeeze another 1.8tb out of my NAS to store a backup image of my main drive, but now I don't have to.
