@strypey@mastodon.nzoss.nz I think each of us lives in a bubble, usually of like minded people I deal with millions of social media people, *most* of them don't care about federation, they are not technical. If you explain it's an open platform, sure, but don't try to explain federation to non-techies, you lost them already when you said federation. Talk about portability, openness etc, federation is not something they care about BTW I know many techies most of them still don't have federated socials
