Finally got around to seeing a (film) production of The Playboy of the Western World by J. M. Synge.

Took me a while to get into this play and was puzzled at first as to how it caused such a fuss when it premiered (its theme of patricide sparked riots in its early days).

By the end, I realized it was basically slapstick comedy (at least in the production I watched).

Was laughing out loud by the end. That says something about the play ... and about me.
