@welshpixie @roomaroo what worries me about using proper nibs is that I think she'll find the whole ritual of having an ink bottle and filling or dipping to be a faff. I personally quite like it, which is why I use fountain pens, but I'm not sure she will, which is why I thought of brush pens. But maybe I'm wrong, or there's an easier way? I know almost nothing about this :)
