I remain agast that the Board of one of Australia’s most prestigious writers festival couldn’t work up their combined writing craft to pen a half decent apology. What does ‘representing’ a decision even mean — would throwing a bash for the author before telling them to sod off have been a better re-presentation of the decision taken by the Board previously? What a lot of nonsense, what a slurr on what is all about ‘writing craft’ when ‘managerialists’ set themselves up as gatekeepers to what is considered an art form or a form of dirty political posturing.
