He's a main actor in a corruption network. As you point out, he has conned and bought "himself" out, because nobody honest would accept he's been doing this all by himself. So there are the men backing him and ready to step up as soon as he dies of a heart attack or by some Epstein-like fate. Going back to the people, the world is expecting them to vote him out, and be ready to defend their vote and democracy with everything they got. Or, rather I'd say, we are wishing for that.
