Institutionalised open access coerces compliance to suites of requirements that echo the pretence of open access as a fixed and particular thing. This not only stifles experiments on publishing, but it percolates particular narratives and framings of open access to information professionals and scholars alike. Of course, experiments are happening, some of which may elide with institutionalised forms, but many of which may not.
