I think a lot of folks can get hung up on specific things like this. I think self-doubt masquerades as "requirements" - you don't need an iPad style tablet, but you fear you won't actually be able to succeed, and believe that "better" gear will give you the best/only chance of doing it, so it's a "must"

but making things is building a tolerance for learning and failure. a tool might make it easier but if you can't get that tool, use whatever you can get and just start
