@ike@pkm.social boosting your right to a test drive. I drove a stick shift Smart Car in London, and promptly put a deposit down on one for when they came to the US (least expensive convertible). Because of the transmission and emissions controls on the US models, they drove badly. I got back my deposit.

@thedarktangent I would like to see a hyperlinked page so I can review the data by myself and come to my own conclusions. That way I don’t have to give my data to anyone. Though I do agree that most of us don’t associate with pedos, and if we accidentally do so unknowingly, I think people would understand. As a gay man of a certain age, I experienced being slandered/libeled by assholes pretending to be Christian, since as a power grab based in bigotry they wrongly claimed ALL gay men (or the vast majority) wanted to do little boys. So, for no reason based in reality, I’ve been tarred with that brush. It’s a stinky brush. Even with that in my past, if I found out someone who I am connected with on LI behaved reprehensibly, I’d sever the relationship. Anyone who would give me grief because I was connected to them would be roundly ignored because knowing someone bad isn’t the same as being bad. My late dad was a multi-year multi-time federal convict. I look just like him and behave almost 100% opposite of him. No one should give me grief because of what my dad did before his death last century.

@photovotary@beige.party I adjusted to them pretty quick. If you bought crappy cheap lenses, it’ll take longer. The better ones have a wider range of field. Try just looking through the tops and take them off for close. Then learn to put your head mid range for computer screens. Don’t tilt your head but look through the bottom of the lens for close reading and your watch. You can do this. I hope you get the hang of it.

@TechConnectify I used to be a projector technician. Once in 1988 the flight I was on said they could not show the movie because the plane landed roughly and the projector was out of line. I had a tweaker (small screwdriver) in my pocket, and with help of my fellow passengers with approval from the flight attendants, I calibrated the projector. I got mad applause and cheering from the other passengers. It was great.

Question: are you allowed to be earning money while physically in Oz if the money comes from another country? If so, I see a potential increase in speaking to audiences via Zoom or a better video platform; cheaper than airfare. Your words and insights are what people value, and you don’t need to be physically present to provide that. Yes, they may pay less, but your costs are lower too.

Elon Musk just raided America's doomsday seed vault.

Yes, you read that right. The vault meant to protect humanity’s last defense against agricultural collapse, stripped and sabotaged.

This isn't hyperbole. The seed bunker held our future. Our protection from famine, disease, climate disasters, destroyed by reckless arrogance.

Elon Musk fired critical scientists, placing centuries of agricultural heritage at immediate risk.

America relied on those seeds. America relied on those scientists. America relied on that bunker.

62,000 unique wheat strains, 600,000 genetic lines, our lifeline in a crisis, now endangered.

Without regular care, these seeds die. Without these seeds, we lose our ability to respond to threats.

Without that ability, we lose food security itself.

This is a direct assault on humanity's survival.

Elon Musk and his Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) treated our collective security as disposable, gambling with millions of lives. Farmers, families, and children. Everyone is harmed.

- Full reinstatement of the fired scientists.
- Secured federal funding protecting the seed vault permanently.
- Legislative safeguards ensuring this can never happen again.

Call your representatives. Share this message. Demand accountability from Musk, DOGE, and our government.

Act now, because your future depends on it. Your children's survival, planet's stability, and the nation's integrity are at stake.

It is urgent, necessary, and morally essential.
