  Should probably get a new profile pic, but no idea what the hell to use Like I'm super not into having my photo taken (though that's being worked on with my fiancee), and I don't love the core concept of "An identifying image of me is publicly visible on the internet" But I grabbed what I currently use purely because I disliked it less than leaving it blank

  Can barely believe Microsoft threatened Valve with the locked-down Windows S build, and Valve's been slowly taking Microsoft's game market apart, piece-by-piece, ever since Using *Microsoft's own standards* feels like an "And the horse you rode in on" kinda move too

  @redstrate@mastoart.social Had a Microsoft account that claimed I did need their super-secure app, but the OTP imported to Aegis just fine The truly broken one though, is "Give us your phone number, we'll call or text you" - which, fuck no I won't, you will get a burner number that auto-answers and spams your "Authorize session" button" (2, in this case)

  Disappointed by KDE's "Dolphin" file explorer not displaying previews for some files, I threw an unrefined, half-assed search at DDG to see what other Arch users have seen And frankly, I'm not sure what else I should have expected

  Kinda wish Mastodon showed "You last sent a follow request on $date" - as it stands I'm stuck with adding a note on a profile, because before I started doing that I'm... 90%(?) sure I cycled through "Hey, neat!" -> Req. to Follow -> Silently denied -> Weeks pass, and someone boosts one of their posts again -> Return to 10 at least a few times

  Reading about how the Bundestag is moving from Signal to Wire, and (while I'd have appreciated the move to Matrix more, as it aligns with where *everyone else is going*), It actually makes sense, to me at least, to trust your work-provided eMail address, provided and supported by the paid professional, more than a cell phone number SS7 / bad telco actors can't really fuck with email domains (especially government ones) like they can phone numbers AFAIK

  Jesus. Looking at the latest US gov website re-enforces my pride in the government of #Canada even more The pop-in, the *massive* load time, the scrolling up which hides text behind other text or the blurred "JOIN NOW", and the fact that it looks so non-governmental and unofficial it needs to have "An official website of the United States government" to scream "We're totally legit", as if the URL shouldn't already fucking cover that https://nasaforce.gov/

  Just hit me that #AOSP has Talkback baked in, but AOSP (as far as I know) doesn't have a Text-to-Speech engine Which feels bizarre, but also another thing to point to when arguing that AOSP (not Android) is juuust this side of mothballed at Google

  @sunguramy Regarding the "What has #NASA done for me lately", I prefer specific examples My go-to is the battery tech (as you mentioned) that allowed cordless power tools to become reality Air lines being a hard requirement instead of an option would *suck*, and the people that try to dunk on space geeks typically have first-hand experience with how much nicer cordless can be
