#Xteink is currently working on blocking firmware flashing. What a smart move. Maybe the best option to kill your success. https://www.ereadersforum.com/threads/xteink-quietly-locks-down-custom-firmware-and-the-explanation-doesnt-hold-up.13142/ The hardware is amazing, but they’ve put almost no effort into making the software even decent. The community really stepped up to fill that gap, and honestly, that’s been a huge part of the company’s success. Things are still a bit unclear as it sounds...

Enjoying #Outward a lot on the #Steamdeck. This console is outstanding. Very powerful and you can play so much games, even a bunch designed for other platforms :)

OK, I got a new toy and get obsessed with it... again. Nonetheless, I'm digging quite a lot to keep the focus on the less obvious hack you can do on your X4. Today, we’ll explore how practical it is for reading manga or comics before you start throwing stones! https://www-gem.codeberg.page/cli_x4_manga #blog #blogpost #xteink #x4 #manga #comics

Just came across a less-known X4 firmware: cpr-vcodex It'll definitely attract people who are into the stats hype as it includes detailed reading analytics (and other improvements to Crosspoint). https://github.com/franssjz/cpr-vcodex #x4 #xteink #crosspoint

Can’t thank the community enough for building ways to avoid being stuck in the YouTube economy: - https://gitlab.com/christosangel/magic-tape - Peertube, invidious, and other instances - https://smarttubeapp.github.io/ https://arstechnica.com/gadgets/2026/04/youtube-increases-premium-price-again-says-90-second-unskippable-ads-are-a-bug/

I'm proud to be part of the https://forum.unfinishedprojects.net/ team with @alecsargent and @UnfinishedProjects While the forum has just been released, I can't wait for having the wiki ready. I strongly believe that this is our chance to build the community we've been missing.

I’ve been messing with some blog config files lately, which pushed me to use jj a lot more. I’m still only using a small part of what it can do, but it already feels like magic. The flexibility is incredible.

Did I mention the X4 lately? ^^ I recently concluded that Crosspoint could benefit from a few more customizations and more font size options offered in Papyrix. It turns out that Inx might be the firmware to fill the gap. It also displays your current reading time, along with the number of pages and chapters—quite a nice feature! https://github.com/obijuankenobiii/inx Still in pre-release, so very promising. I just didn't see an option to prevent the display fading effect when the X4 is...

@daniel@masto.doserver.top As far as your wallet is concerned, the answer is easy: $69 ;) Jokes aside, it’s always smart to think about whether you really need something and its environmental impact before buying a new toy.

@geerlingguy@mastodon.social This situation is due to the semiconductor memory market facing a deep supply shortage. If you ever find yourself in the need for a new piece of tech that relies on memory in the next 2 years you're in trouble :(

@heptag0n@todon.eu (Neo)Vim is an excellent and powerful editor but it requires a deep commitment and lots of efforts at start. It's like the ArchLinux of text editors: it comes bare bone and the user has to build it. I'm currently assisting another Mastodon user (currently using Helix) in setting up and learning Neovim. I'd be more than happy to help you as well if you want.

@thelinuxcast@fosstodon.org Wow looks like a lot of issues. Based on your descriptions and their nature, I'd say it's probably more Wayland-related than specific to Niri. Weird behaviors for QT and GTK apps is a known thing. Have you tried to define some variables in the environment section in Niri like that: environment { QT_QPA_PLATFORM "wayland" QT_QPA_PLATFORMTHEME "gtk3" QT_QPA_PLATFORMTHEME_QT6 "gtk3" QT_WAYLAND_DISABLE_WINDOWDECORATI...
