@heptag0n@todon.eu (Neo)Vim is an excellent and powerful editor but it requires a deep commitment and lots of efforts at start. It's like the ArchLinux of text editors: it comes bare bone and the user has to build it. I'm currently assisting another Mastodon user (currently using Helix) in setting up and learning Neovim. I'd be more than happy to help you as well if you want.
