spent way too much time today resurrecting a 2010-era set of components into an almost complete PC. hoping someone can use it and it can avoid the landfill for a long while yet. #pcbuilding

just dropped $700 into my stupid old gas vehicle for oil, rad flush, transmission and filters. I hate gas/ICE vehicles so much now. it's all so .... unnecessary. can't wait to replace it with a 2nd #ev

so far not too impressed with #mealie. every recipe I've tried to import from a URL has had the image scrape get 403'd .... and the import itself is already multiple steps with all the parsing. anyone have success with importing recipes? there is no way the family is gonna manually upload images. #homelab #selfhosting

I never see #substack links anywhere else in my daily internet use, but for some reason they are all over mastodon. Given that substack is a Nazi bar, the fediverse is the last place I'd expect to find such heavy usage of it. dunno why I'm posting this. just to voice my cognitive dissonance I guess

blowing my mind a little that neither #jellyfin or #homeassistant supports OIDC auth 😵💫 was thinking of trying to put all my home server stuff behind a SSO wall but not going to bother at the moment with those revelations

happy to be heading home to #canada today. #portugal is amazing and I'll likely return someday soon for a surfing trip, but I didn't enjoy Lisbon much. The south was more my jam. and the expense of Europe is real, my wallet is so tired💲💲💲

Being in #Lisbon during a #heatdome is less than ideal. We're mostly spending afternoons indoors with A/C. I am pretty impressed with this article and the instructions from the government. You wouldn't see this kind of detail in a lot of places in North America. https://theportugalpost.com/posts/portugals-heat-emergency-red-alerts-activated-cooling-centers-open-what-residents-must-know-now #heatwave

I wish #mastodon had a feature to follow hashtags but filter posts written in other languages in those tags. Maybe that's too complicated to implement as a native feature. It seems Germans in particular use a lot of English hashtags but otherwise write posts in all #German, which I have no proficiency in. An auto-#translate client-side feature might be a good compromise?

Car charging in #europe continues to be a shitshow. It is so hostile to visitors. I tried my best to give #Remo my money and they make it literally impossible. I am sadly, very glad I rented a hybrid vehicle instead of a pure electric for my current trip in #portugal. It's worse for charging than our experience in France was last year.

This one is a bit of a long shot #getfedihired but here we go. I'm writing up a job description for an experienced (4+ years mgmt please) software engineering manager for a backend team (services, APIs, infrastructure). We'd like to hire locally for this one, but the role is fully wfh remote. Looking in #Victoria (ideal), on the island, or #Vancouver (BC, Canada). #yyj #yvr If you like #edm (or music in general) and live in the area... DM me to get a head start.... the role w...
