Today in "nobody knows how to do UX anymore": YouTube's search bar now has an "ask YouTube" button that grows and pushes the x (clear search) button over to the side when you focus the input, meaning that if you double click in a particular part of the search bar, you can unintentionally clear your search. it's minor, but shows a real lack of care

it's always weird to me when i hear people talk about how much more productive AI makes them at technology or coding because that just makes me think that they are not engaging with code in a cognitive capacity and instead are seeing it as a set of rote operations that need to be run. if something is so easy that it can be automated by an LLM, then surely a better deterministic abstraction could be made for it instead of letting the machine vomit out previously encountered logic. that's...
