It's fun to look at an AI thumbnail on YouTube and just block that channel forever.

I think it's funny when authors complain about adaptations of their books in 2026. Certainly you have to know by *now* how Hollywood works....

Show DP: :points camera at light: "This flaring is the look I want." Show QC: "Can we paint out these red dots in the frame?" :sigh:

$1.15 Trillion for defense with an extra $78 Billion in "emergency" funding for the Iran War. Remember "we can't afford" domestic spending on poverty reduction, or healthcare or education....

https://www.theguardian.com/business/2026/jul/21/americans-stock-market-poll "Nearly 40% did not know that the economy and the stock market were not the same thing. And two-thirds of Americans incorrectly believed that a growing stock market means the overall economy is growing." :sigh:

"The Lord of the Rings: The Hunt for Gollum" Huh? Did we need to know what Gollum was up to between The Hobbit and the Lord of the Rings? This definitely falls into "Movies answering questions about characters no one asked." #Movies

I hear everyone talking "Dune Movie Trilogy" but 1 & 2 are the first book and 3 is an undetermined amount of "Dune Messiah" so is it *really*?

Put people who care about the creative product more than the profit percentage back in charge of creative companies.

Hundreds of years of English and society hasn't figured out more descriptive language for "next weekend" so I know if they are talking about the *upcoming* weekend or the weekend after that.

Seems like the North American Football teams *are* the underdogs from here out. Guess that's what happens when you get down to 16 teams in the world. :)

It must be so nice to leave a job not have to give it a single thought on your off time. If any of those still exist anymore.

Super loud party a few houses away, taking up all the street parking. Probably a graduation party. I'm all for it; so little chances to be happy about things I will vicariously share in their enjoyment and it's not going to kill me to park a little farther away than usual once in a while. It's nice to hear people laughing and enjoying themselves, because you know :waves arms around:

RE: https://newsie.social/@TheConversationUS/116819171263292918 We could be hiring people to fix our rotting infrastructure, but the government would rather spend that money rocketing water plants and warcriming in Iran.

Wild that after a 10 year buildup to Infinity War and Endgame, Avengers: Doomsday is coming out this year with just a tag in the Fantastic Four movie for setup. Once the Kang/Multiverse plot fell apart behind the scenes and got axed, seems like all overall planning fell apart. Much as I didn't want another 10 year buildup to the next event, I think I wanted *some* buildup before the next one. #Movies #MCU

"1200 people took more than half the profits won on Polymarket in a year"--WaPo. Wait, you're saying online unregulated insider trading just transfers wealth to a small elite? Next, you'll tell me those people are already wealthy and are just hoovering up money from the lower income brackets. What an amazing not surprise.

Now is that period between trailers shown at Cinemacon to theater chains only and releasing them so *we* can see, where a shitty "fan trailers" flood YouTube trying to trick you into watching them. Searching for real recent trailers is almost impossible.
