    1998: Everything was in config files or source files; documentation was often sparse; finding an answer to a question often involved lots of trying, some discussion, and sometimes failure and moving on. 2026: Everything is on a service platform or AI gated; documentation is often wrong; finding an answer involves being told lots of wrong things by search, support AIs, and trying isn&#39;t really an option anymore. You don&#39;t get to fail, you are just told no.
