Well, if I needed more proof that I am well-enough to take action when a fire alarm in a hotel goes off at 01:00 Pacific, I have it now. Sitting outside the now, shooting the breeze with other guests. At least I won’t be the subject of a true drama YouTube video because of tonight.

In lighter news, I think this could be a good opportunity for folks in Burnaby to be able to continue to elect good municipal councillors whom I haven't seen any bad news items about in the last 2 years I've lived in the Lower Mainland: https://www.cbc.ca/news/canada/british-columbia/burnaby-2026-municipal-election-preview-9.7141244 I am probably the most curious as to why Alison Gu is not seeking re-election if she got the most popular votes when she was elected.

RE: https://neopaquita.es/@Shine_McShine/116289476043387617 I wish I knew enough of this language to understand the wordplay going on. Anyone willing to gently explain to me?

RE: https://socialbc.ca/@chris/116319140864928945 I'm so glad that we agreed to send out quarterly newsletters which include information about SocialBC.org's Board meetings.I think it's important for non-profit societies to have an open line of communication with its members and donors. I also believe that members and donors should be empowered to know what's going on at the highest decision-making levels. Some of the work we did at the March meeting was a first...

The status of sketch comedy in Victoria, B.C. is strong. How strong? Strong enough for a local team called @LoadingReadyRun to have been in operation for over 20 years. Here's their latest YouTube update: https://youtu.be/OlzshoJ9WGY?si=O-9GWj2-fMep2UJX

I’m quite glad that I read this article after seeing the more neutral take on Eby’s announcement yesterday about not implementing DRIPA sooner on the CBC website. As a progressive, I’m very disappointed. How are we as a society going to be able to be able to treat all humans with fairness if the federal government can’t commit to its promises to First Nations peoples? We’re much better than this, aren’t we? https://www.ctvnews.ca/canada/article/absolute-betrayal-first-nations-blast-eby-in-leake...

There’s a tech writer I follow here on Masto because they write a lot of interesting things about a part of Asia that I don’t know about and they’re geeky in a way that’s different from me but there is a bit of overlap. That’s been neat. They also love the AI writing workflow they’ve developed on their own. It has helped them be more productive and they are happier when they write now because they’ve found a good toolset that works for their needs. Navigating this dialectic has been odd.

Wow... I can't believe how easy it is to use Zeffy to renew a membership. I hope they allow folks to create a trial or test group because if SOSSBC can use it for fundraising, there will be less operational fees to worry about. Does anyone have any experience with using this platform? I'd love to hear all about it. #SOSSBC #Nonprofits #Fundsraising
