I expected to respectfully disagree. I did not expect a series of disarmingly incisive points. Codeberg's Protecting our FLOSS commons from LLMs is extraordinarily well considered and pragmatic. https://blog.codeberg.org/protecting-our-floss-commons-from-llms.html

I wonder, do #vegans know that #cornSubsidies keep meat prices low? #AskFedi It seems to me, the one policy change that would have greatest impact on consumption of meat in the US is to decimate corn subsidies and such farm subsidies that reduce the cost of animal feed. #vegan #veganism #USPol

I am starting to talk about UXD from an HCI perspective as PIE: Paradigmatic Interaction Experience, or, individually, interaction experience paradigms. I don't have the clout to coin a term and expect anyone to use it, but fuck it. #UXD is too much about two-dimensional widgets. #HCI is too broadly about #informatics in #sociology. WTF am I talking about? Epubs and PDFs are consumed in the same paradigm. Filesystem navigation is a paradigm, and you know what experience to expect duri...

It is ironic that our #economics (with all the competitive winner-take-all-market-dominance strategy we all know and hate) is based largely on economies of scale … which erases individual difference presuming a large single market. In this individualistic society. Even as consumption is promoted and pushed and sold, consumers are ironically presumed lowest class participants wrt agency and voice. Business class is upper class. "Luxury" is "you wish."

Anyone care to invite me to your #ActuallyAutistic private community? I need a less public, non-surveillance-tech-based group. (IE not facebook nor discord). It does not need to be specific to autism, or disability. I would be happy to even run the tech side if the money came from somewhere. I do know of options. #SpoonieTown? Seems like there should be a safe way to organize in private online in 2026. Oh yeah, I've been through all this recently with the ditch discord thing. @actuallyau...

I'm trying out beige.party rn. Find me there. Anything linuxy or fossy may come back here, but the predominantly anti-JVM bent of this community has kinda turned me off. Dad stuff, social commentary, nonfic, etc probably over there, too, because yknow, multiple accounts is for "influencers" or people with time for this shit. @travisfw@beige.party

How do people make a social context or group or culture more accessible to Autistic people? #actuallyAutistic @actuallyautistic (Edit: not that I don't have an answer or two, but I want *your* answer.)

I do not have a "balanced" opinion on #AI. "Balance" implies a dichotomy is valid. Nope. Artists and creators in all fields deserve better than compensation for their work. And AI is a powerful technology that can do a lot of good for humanity. And OpenAI is a horrible company and definitely violates copyright. And #copyright is broken beyond my capacity to describe. And data center expansion is looking like a cancerous aspect of #enshittification. And… I coul...

I keep seeing the "not a technical problem" meme. Does "technical" mean "not social"? Or does "technical" mean that *someone technical* has to manage it? I don't see any technology that isn't social in a number of ways. But tech can look bad in a lot of ways too. It can look inanimate, like an unfeeling object. It can look like an unacceptable compromise regarding the externalities of the businesses that ma...
